Happy Earth Day!

I should go plant a tree. But unfortunately it's dark outside and too late for tree planting :( Not that I have a tree to plant anyway.
But on the up-side, school is finally over tomorrow!! This has been the craziest finals week I've ever had. Typically I just have to finish papers the week before finals. But not this time. I got hit on both ends. But by 5 o'clock tomorrow, everything will be done and turned in. I took my last two finals today (humanities and elang) and I took my last French final (EVER) yesterday. I was pretty excited.
I should actually be in bed, but I was trying to take a look at my english project that's due tomorrow. And, it's actually a blog about Star Wars. Originally it looked exactly the same as my old blog--and I was getting sick of that so I decided to stop trying to force my brain to think and to just mess around with my own blog. You should check out the Star Wars blog sometime though--it's not half bad.
Whoa, I just realized how hungry I am. So I think I'm going to eat something and then go to bed. Hurrah!

Two days and counting. . .

The semester is just about over. I survived last week--it was absolutely crazy. I had a 12 page research paper and a Beowulf project on top of all the other reading and worksheets that teachers expected me to do and turn in. I also had some french "cultural" experiences and quizzes that I had to finish up, tests to take, and about 25 employee evaluations to finish at work. To make things even more crazy, you may have noticed the Subway commercials that advertise 5 dollar foot-long sandwiches. Well, I think every person on campus noticed because Subway has been going crazy. So instead of getting a my evaluations done, I've been stuck in Subway helping them with the endless line. I was so frustrated one night that I hadn't finished my evaluations that I had a dream that my boss hired bounty hunters to track down all the employees for me. I just walked into the office and there was this army of large, tattooed, gun carrying men who wanted a list of all the people I needed to find. It was a pretty funny dream.
But I survived the week!! And now there are only two more days left of class. I think my grades will turn out pretty well. All except for french that is. There has just been too much to do and too many more important things to finish--there's no way I could have spent even an hour a night studying french.
Speaking about difficult, I taught the Sunday school lesson today. It was on Jacob 5 and Zenos's Allegory of the Olive Tree. I was pretty nervous because that's kind of a confusing subject especially when I'm trying to teach other people about it. But I think it turned out okay. At least everyone told me that they liked it and that they learned something. . .
Anyway, finals start this Friday and finish next Wednesday. Then all I have to do is move into my new apartment Saturday. I'm excited to not be taking classes this spring. I'll just be working 40 hours a week. So it will be nice to just come home and not do homework. Well, nothing else to report, so I guess I should go to bed.

Laissez les bons temps rouler. . .

I have a knack for walking into a room, turning on the light. . .and then all the light bulbs "pop" and burn out. Really, it happens to me often. Once it was my bedroom--both bulbs at the same time and it was pitch black. But my roommate had light bulbs then. Today, it was the bathroom. You know, the little cubbies that are in BYU type apartments with the toilet and the shower. I just walked in, and "pop" light bulb dead. And this time, the weird type of light bulb that goes in there we don't have. So we've been lighting a candle all day--and showers will be fun tomorrow. . .
Speaking of tomorrow, yesterday I saw a french movie about cannibalism. It was called Delicatessen and if you're not into black comedy I don't recommend it. And there was a freaky monkey and I hate monkeys. From a humanities stand point, however, it was a really clever.
On a lighter note--yea for General Conference! I love it already and we still get two more sessions!! That makes me happy.

Easter Weekend. . . A Bit Late.

Easter weekend was nice. I did a lot of fun things, and have some funny stories.
But let's start with Friday. I hadn't slept very well on Thursday night because I didn't feel very well, and then I had to get up early to go to my Friday morning work meeting. So by the time Friday night rolled around, I was pretty fried. I didn't feel like doing anymore homework, so Jaclyn and I decided to go "shopping." For me, that means I usually watch my roommates buy stuff, but this time we went to Ross and there was a 45-65% off sale on all the dresses. And I actually found one that fit me! It wasn't a bad price, so I bought it. Then Jaclyn and I watched Enchanted, which was fun.
Anyway, on Saturday, this random person gave me a phone call and said that he knew my Elder's Quorum President and that he said that I might be interested in going to this blues concert. The funny thing is, when he said his name, I recognized it because he was in my ward last year and was dating my next door neighbor. But he didn't know who I was. Anyway, I said that I would go and I figured that at least when he picked me up he would recognize me. He definitely didn't, however, which is funny because we know all the same people. So we went to Tahitian Noni (this fruit place--well, their office buildings) with his roommate and girl friend and ate in the cafe and then we went to a concert. It actually wasn't a blues concert--it was a blue grass concert, but it was pretty good. And then he took me home. I didn't really learn anything new about him--and he never realized that he actually knew me. He mentioned his old girlfriend a few times though, which is sort of tacky. But I got free food and concert. . .
Then my roommates and their boyfriend/friend died Easter eggs. As you can see, I made it home from my date in time to make an egg too.
On Sunday, I got up, finished my Teacher Improvement Lesson, and then I took a shower and went to choir. We sang Beautiful Savior and This is the Christ. When I got home. . .I curled my hair with hot curlers. I know--shocker. I wont do it again for along time because it took me forever (well, about 35 minutes), and it turned out a little frizzy, but it looked pretty good. And I wore my Easter dress so that was nice.
When I got home my roommates and I cooked dinner (ham, asparagus and potatoes, deviled eggs, spinach salad, green bean casserole, rolls, and strawberry shortcake) and then they all went to pick up their dates. But I couldn't go pick up my date--5 minutes earlier his roommate had come over and said that my date would be late. We were starting at 6:30 and he said that he would be there at 7. So we started eating. There were just enough chairs for everyone and their dates, which meant that there was an empty seat next to me. I didn't mind, however, it was Passover and I told them that we were leaving a chair open for Elijah. (Okay, at least I think I'm funny).
At about 7:45, my date finally shows up. We were eating dessert by then, so he had some. We offered him more food--but I'm pretty sure that he had eaten at his sister's house before he graced us with his presence, so he declined. That's okay, by that point I wasn't too impressed with him and was just happy that I would have plenty of ham for my sandwich the next day. I love ham.
After that we played games. And it was pretty fun. So at the end of the weekend, I had had a weird blind date and another date that practically stood me up. I'm starting to have a fairly nice collection of good date stories. . .
In other news, since Easter, I now have TWO nieces. Sydney Kay was born on Wednesday of this week, March 26, and I'm really excited to meet her in June!!
As far as school goes, I'm pretty sure I just want the teachers to give me the stinking credits. I feel like I've paid my dues (time after time). So, just stickin' it out. I am learning in my classes, however, and I like my professors a lot. In fact, my humanities professor is really cool, and is going to lend me the movie The Last Man On Earth because it's an older version I Am Legend with Vincent Price.
Work is also going well. I've been doing employee evaluations all week and it's been nice to get to know the people I work with better. I was also evaluated by one of my full time managers and told that I was doing a really good job--so that made me happy.
As for what I will do tonight? Laundry, clean the bathroom, and then watch a movie while editing a paper. Sounds fun doesn't it?

Hello World and All Who Inhabit It

Well, now I have a blog. Never thought that would happen. 'Course, back in the day I never thought that I would have an email address, a cell phone, or a Facebook--and now I have all of those things. What a world. . .
And now it's back to my semi-boring half-way exciting college life. In other words, I need to finish my homework. I hope you and I both end up enjoying this exciting new world called "blogging." Goodbye, and good luck.
